Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts defines arts integration as "an approach to teaching in which students construct and demonstrate understanding through an art form. Students engage in a creative process which connects an art form and another subject and meets evolving objectives in both."
Gate City Charter School for the Arts uses an arts-integrated curriculum to develop dynamic, effective learning opportunities which inspire student excellence in academics and the arts and promote social/emotional growth. Through a variety of pathways, our students cultivate the knowledge, creativity, and inquisitive nature which will foster a life-long love of learning. We use arts integration in every classroom as an approach to teaching in which students construct and demonstrate understanding through an art form. Students engage in a creative process which “connects an art form and another subject and meets evolving objectives in both." (JFK Center for the Performing Arts).
