Meet the Teacher

Ms. Adina

My name is Adina Cosden and this will be my first year as the art teacher at Gate City Charter School for the Arts. I joined the Gate City staff last year as a one-on-one teaching assistant and am excited to learn and grow with all of our amazing friends across K-8 this coming school year.

I received a BFA from New Hampshire Institute of Art in 2018 with a major in Illustration, then graduated in 2021 from the dual degree Master’s program for Arts Administration and Policy/Modern and Contemporary Art History, Theory, and Criticism at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.

I’ve worked for arts and youth development nonprofits for over ten years as both an educator and curator. I’m passionate about the intersection between art and social practice. My favorite classroom environments I strive to emulate are interdisciplinary and experimental, centered around values of care, creativity, critical thinking, and collaboration.

In my freetime, I like to play with my dog, read, do puzzles, play tabletop and video games, and go hiking (as long as it’s warm enough - I’m from California and still not used to the cold).
