Meet our Staff

Ms. Laura

My name is Laura Czerlonka and I’m the Behavior Specialist here at Gate City Charter School of The Arts. I absolutely love working in behavioral health and have enjoyed almost 2 decades in the field both with inpatient settings, and for school districts. Here at GCCSA, I can often be found greeting the kiddos in the morning with positive affirmations, helping students in their classes with both their fun and frustrations alike, offering support and an ear to those who need, and just generally being available to students and staff alike who might need support.

This will be my third school year working for GCCSA, and often you will find me gushing over the plants in my office, the birds in the feeders outside the window, or going on about pop culture with kids and adults alike.Throughout the year, I find ways to share my love for animals

and American Sign Language. I’ve been so excited establishing the school’s sensory closet, sensory room, and sensory event nights as I’m a firm believer in advocacy and accessibility for all. I strive to make our school a safe learning environment where the students know how important, special, kind, and appreciated they are.
